HashiCorp Launches Terraform Registry Partner Premier Tier for Top IaC Providers

HashiCorp has officially launched the Terraform Registry Partner Premier tier, a new recognition level designed to distinguish technology partners who go beyond the basics of infrastructure as code (IaC).
Building on the original Partner tag introduced in 2022, this new status raises the bar. It specifically rewards partners that adopt Terraform’s most cutting-edge capabilities: Terraform search, Terraform actions, and ephemeral resources. Together, these features extend Terraform’s automation well beyond simple Create, Read, Update, Destroy (CRUD) workflows.
To earn the Terraform Registry Partner Premier tier, providers must first meet all existing Partner tag requirements. In addition, they must include a software bill of materials (SBOM) and implement at least one advanced feature, ephemeral resources, Terraform search, or Terraform actions. These requirements are not cosmetic. They signal a real commitment to security, lifecycle management, and provider quality.
Terraform actions were announced at HashiConf 2025 and must be built directly into providers. They allow teams to trigger preset operations for common Day 2 tasks, all from within the Terraform pipeline. Terraform search, meanwhile, helps users discover and consume existing resources dynamically, closing the gap between legacy inventory systems and modern IaC workflows.
Twelve industry names launched as Partner Premier providers. Scaleway brings full lifecycle orchestration beyond CRUD, from server reboots to VPN management. Cisco automates configuration saves for IOS and NX-OS directly through Terraform actions. Palo Alto Networks eliminates manual PanOS commits inside CI/CD pipelines. MongoDB and 1Password both securely provide credentials in-memory, ensuring sensitive data never persists in Terraform state. Infoblox uses Terraform search to bridge legacy IPAM and DNS records with modern IaC workflows. Rubrik enables real-time discovery of unprotected data. Mittwald, Saviynt, Outscale, Ionos Cloud, and Sidero Labs round out the launch group, each addressing sovereignty, identity governance, and Kubernetes immutability.
For end users, the benefit is immediate. The Terraform Registry now lets customers filter directly by the Partner Premier tag. At a glance, users can see which providers support ephemeral resources, Terraform search, or Terraform actions, saving significant research time.
Partners who achieve this new status also gain exclusive access to HashiCorp co-marketing support, technical resources, product roadmap sharing, provider development workshops, and direct design input into Terraform’s future direction.
The original Partner tag remains unchanged. It still requires verification by a HashiCorp Alliances Manager, the use of Terraform’s most recent plugin framework, nightly automated testing via GitHub Actions, and a commitment to regular updates. For modules, compliance includes static analysis tools like TFLink or Checkov, unit and integration testing via Terraform test, adherence to official naming conventions, and thorough module documentation.
