Anthropic Launches Claude for Small Business to Close the AI Gap

Anthropic has launched Claude for Small Business, a dedicated package designed to bring AI-powered automation directly into the tools that small business owners already rely on every day. The move signals a deliberate push to close the widening AI adoption gap between small enterprises and larger corporations.
Small businesses account for 44% of U.S. GDP and employ nearly half of the private-sector workforce, yet their use of AI has consistently lagged behind bigger companies. Anthropic says Claude for Small Business is its answer to that problem, built as part of its public benefit mission to make AI work for everyone, not just well-resourced organisations.
The product installs as a toggle inside Claude Cowork and connects to platforms including Intuit QuickBooks, PayPal, HubSpot, Canva, Docusign, Google Workspace, and Microsoft 365. Once connected, Claude for Small Business can plan payroll, close the month, chase invoices, run sales campaigns, and more all with the owner approving before anything sends, posts, or pays.
Anthropic ships the product with 15 ready-to-run agentic workflows and 15 skills targeting the repetitive tasks owners say slow them down the most. Those include reconciling books at month-end, generating a plain-English profit and loss statement, triaging leads from HubSpot, drafting and publishing campaign assets through Canva, and sending contracts out for signature via Docusign. An invoice chaser, margin analyser, and tax-season organiser are also part of the package.
Anthropic co-founder and President Daniela Amodei said the goal is straightforward: people run the business, and Claude handles the late-night pile-up. “AI is the first technology that can finally close that gap,” she said, referring to the resource divide between small and large businesses.
Security was a central design consideration. In a survey Anthropic conducted with small business owners, half cited data security as their biggest hesitation around AI. With Claude for Small Business, existing user permissions carry over, if an employee cannot access something in QuickBooks today, they cannot access it through Claude either.
Anthropic also does not train on customer data by default on its Team and Enterprise plans. Full details are available at the Trust Center.
Alongside the product, Anthropic and PayPal are launching AI Fluency for Small Business, a free on-demand course taught by real business owners who have already built AI into their operations. Anthropic is also taking Claude for Small Business on a national tour, starting May 14 in Chicago, offering free half-day workshops in cities including Dallas, Baltimore, Salt Lake City, and San Jose, with a one-month Claude Max subscription for every attendee.
