Spotify Expands AI DJ With New Language Support

Spotify has expanded its AI DJ feature to support four additional languages: French, German, Italian, and Brazilian Portuguese. This update is part of the company’s ongoing effort to make its AI-powered listening experience more natural, localised, and accessible to users across different regions.
New Language Personalities
Each newly added language comes with a distinct “personality” designed to reflect cultural tone, speaking style, and local listening habits. Rather than a direct translation, Spotify has adapted the AI DJ’s voice and delivery to feel native to each audience.
For example, the French version leans into a more conversational and expressive tone, while the German version focuses on clarity and structured commentary. The Italian and Brazilian Portuguese versions similarly reflect regional music culture and communication styles.
This approach is meant to make the experience feel less automated and more like a familiar host guiding the listening journey.
With the addition of these four languages, Spotify’s AI DJ is now available in more than 75 countries. This expansion significantly increases its global footprint, particularly in Europe and Latin America.
Users can now receive personalised playlists accompanied by AI-generated voice commentary in their preferred language, making music discovery more engaging and interactive. The feature continues to learn from listening habits, adapting recommendations over time.
This move highlights Spotify’s broader strategy of combining AI with personalisation to improve user engagement. As competition in music streaming intensifies, especially with platforms offering algorithm-based recommendations, Spotify is leaning into more human-like interaction to differentiate itself.
By localising AI voices and expanding language coverage, the company is also targeting deeper market penetration in non-English speaking regions, where personalised experiences often drive stronger user retention.
