Pizza night just got an upgrade that comes from the sky. Now, Little Caesars has launched a new drone delivery partnership with Flytrex in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Together, they are targeting one of the biggest pain points in drone food delivery: feeding a whole family.

Until now, most delivery drones could only handle small, lightweight orders. Coffee for one person or a lunchtime snack were the typical use cases. As a result, delivering a full dinner for multiple people was still largely out of reach due to weight and cargo constraints.

However, the Little Caesars drone delivery service changes that completely. Flytrex’s new Sky2 drone carries up to 8.8 pounds of cargo, the largest payload among food-focused delivery drones currently operating. In practice, that means a customer can order two large 16-inch pizzas, sides like Crazy Bread, and 20-ounce drinks in one single trip.

Meanwhile, speed is another major selling point. Flytrex says orders reach customers in an average of 4.5 minutes from takeoff to drop-off. Additionally, the Sky2 covers a delivery radius of up to four miles, making it viable for suburban neighborhoods where traditional delivery times tend to run longer.

Currently, the first live location operates out of Wylie, Texas. Customers place orders through the Flytrex app, which connects directly with Little Caesars’ existing ordering systems. As a result, this integration means restaurant staff do not need to handle any extra manual steps.

The Sky2 drone itself uses an eight-motor octocopter design for in-flight safety redundancy. It also features dual batteries, advanced GNSS with RTK navigation, and an onboard AI system that continuously monitors each flight.

Flytrex has had a remarkable run lately. The company secured investment from Uber as part of a strategic deal for Uber Eats orders. It also partnered with DoorDash in the Dallas area and received FAA approval for beyond visual line of sight operations. To date, Flytrex has completed more than 200,000 deliveries across the United States. The Little Caesars drone delivery launch now adds yet another chapter to that momentum.
