Indian Legal AI Startup Jurisphere is attracting global investor attention after raising $2.2 million in seed funding. The round included Info Edge Ventures, Flourish Ventures, Antler, and 8i Ventures. The legaltech startup plans international expansion while scaling its hybrid AI and lawyer-powered platform.

The Jurisphere legal AI startup was founded in 2024 by brothers Varun Khandelwal and Manas Khandelwal alongside Sumit Ghosh. Varun previously worked at AZB & Partners. Meanwhile, Manas spent three years at HubSpot as a principal account executive. Together, they identified legal services as slow, expensive, and inaccessible for many businesses in emerging markets.

Jurisphere combines proprietary AI tools with a vetted network of over 100 lawyers, including US-qualified attorneys. Every document receives human review before delivery to clients. Users can submit contracts through email, Slack, or the company platform. Reviewed outputs are delivered within hours at a fixed upfront price. Additionally, the platform processed over 12 million documents for more than 500 business customers.

Notably, the startup’s approach differs sharply from fully automated legal AI tools. Instead of relying entirely on automation, Jurisphere includes human review in every legal output. Co-founder Varun Khandelwal said legal AI must focus on “enabling execution,” not only productivity. Meanwhile, India’s legal sector faces a backlog exceeding 50 million pending court cases. Consequently, demand for scalable and faster legal infrastructure continues growing rapidly.

Importantly, the Jurisphere platform targets emerging economies before focusing on mature Western markets. In contrast, rivals like Harvey primarily serve large US enterprise clients. This strategy gives Jurisphere an advantage in high-volume, price-sensitive legal markets. With fresh funding secured, the startup is now accelerating global expansion and lawyer marketplace growth.
