Accenture Backs Aera Technology to Power AI-Enabled Supply Chains

Supply chains are buckling under pressure. Disruptions arrive faster than human processes can respond. Most supply chains still rely on fragmented, manual processes. Accenture research shows the majority of companies remain in the early stages of autonomous adoption. Only 25% have begun the journey, and the current median maturity sits at just 16% on an index from fully manual to fully autonomous. That gap is costing companies their competitiveness.

Accenture is moving to close it. The company invested, through Accenture Ventures, in Aera Technology, a leader in agentic decision intelligence for enterprises. The two companies will combine Aera’s decision intelligence with Accenture’s AI-enabled supply chain capabilities, bringing real-time decision-making to complex global supply chains. The deal targets consumer goods, high-tech, life sciences, mining, and oil and gas sectors.

Aera’s platform is built for speed and scale. It combines agentic AI, a proprietary decision data model, and real-time orchestration engines. Aera agents continuously monitor changes, sharpen supply and demand decisions, and execute actions across the enterprise. They learn from every outcome, making supply chains more agile, more resilient, and cheaper to run.

Chris McDivitt, Accenture’s global lead for autonomous supply chains, explained the urgency directly. “The speed at which decisions are required to balance costs and services is outstripping what manual, siloed processes can sustain. Our partnership with Aera Technology will enable highly resilient, AI-enabled supply chains that can sense change before disruption hits and execute many decisions automatically under human oversight.”

The partnership already has a major customer behind it. The Hershey Company is embedding AI-enabled decision-making in its supply chains with support from both Aera and Accenture. Douglas Guilherme, Hershey’s global supply chain SVP, put the value simply: “We are using AI-enabled decision-making to identify and avoid a problem before it occurs.”

Fred Laluyaux, Co-Founder and CEO of Aera Technology, sees a broader shift in motion. “Decision intelligence is enabling a new operating model where intelligent systems manage complexity at speed and scale, and people focus on strategy and performance.”
