Zenith Bank Opens Côte d’Ivoire Subsidiary in Bold African Expansion

Zenith Bank Plc has officially announced the opening of its Zenith Bank Côte d’Ivoire subsidiary, a milestone that signals a powerful new chapter in the Nigerian lender’s Pan-African growth ambitions.

The Zenith Bank Côte d’Ivoire subsidiary licensed in December 2025 by the Ministry of Finance and Budget of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire and is regulated by the UMOA Banking Commission. It will operate from its headquarters at SCI Wall Street, Avenue Noguès, Plateau, Abidjan.

A Strategic Gateway into Francophone West Africa

The official opening ceremony, scheduled for Wednesday, April 29, 2026, expected to draw senior government officials and regulators from both Nigeria and Côte d’Ivoire, alongside continental business leaders and members of the diplomatic community. The new subsidiary positioned as a gateway for cross-border trade and investment within the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU), offering corporate banking, trade finance, and structured financial solutions for businesses operating across Africa and internationally.

Group Managing Director and CEO Dame Dr. Adaora Umeoji, OON, described the launch as a bold step toward realising the vision of the bank’s Founder and Chairman, Jim Ovia CFR, of building a truly global brand with a strong African footprint.

Cédric Tano, the newly appointed MD/CEO of the Zenith Bank Côte d’Ivoire subsidiary, expressed confidence in the bank’s ability to deliver customer-centric banking combined with global best practices and deep local insight.

Beyond Côte d’Ivoire, Zenith Bank has already begun entry processes into the CEMAC region, with Cameroon identified as the focal market, further cementing its commitment to continent-wide financial integration.
