Temenos Expands Cloud Banking on AWS While Deepening FAB Saudi Arabia Deal
Banking technology provider Temenos is making two moves at once and both signal the same direction. The company has expanded its SaaS offering on Amazon Web Services to now cover core banking, digital channels and payments, giving banks the option to adopt these capabilities separately or as part of a more integrated deployment, depending on their existing systems and technology plans. A Decade-Long Partnership Goes Deeper
Temenos and AWS have worked together since 2019, with banks including MidWestOne Bank in the US, Credem in Italy, WeLab Bank in Hong Kong, and Ila Bank in Bahrain already deploying Temenos technology on AWS. The extended SaaS offering now supports retail, business, and corporate banking clients, with AWS’s geographical coverage providing an added advantage for institutions navigating local data residency requirements. David Albertazzi, executive advisor at Datos Insights, noted that the development reflects a broader industry shift toward composable, cloud-based banking architectures, where security, data sovereignty, and regulatory alignment remain central to platform selection.
On a separate but related front, First Abu Dhabi Bank is implementing Temenos Core Banking, Payments Hub and Data Hub on cloud infrastructure in Saudi Arabia, targeting Islamic banking operations to deliver Shari’ah-compliant services across retail, SME and corporate banking. This is not a new relationship FAB already operates multi-entity instances of Temenos Core Banking across 12 countries, with a collaboration between the two companies spanning more than a decade.
The Saudi Arabia deployment builds on that foundation while also aligning with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 digital finance goals.
