Anthropic Eyes $900 Billion Valuation in Jaw-Dropping $30B Funding Round

The AI Race Just Got a New Frontrunner

Anthropic, the company behind the Claude AI assistant, is closing in on a staggering valuation that would make it the most valuable private AI company in the world. According to The Information and The Financial Times, the Claude maker has agreed terms on a $30 billion funding round that pegs its Anthropic $900 billion valuation before the new money hits surpassing rival OpenAI, which was last valued at $852 billion in March.

Four heavyweight investment firms are co-leading the deal: Dragoneer, Greenoaks, Sequoia Capital, and Altimeter Capital, with each expected to commit at least $2 billion. The round expected to close as early as this month, though final terms could still shift before a formal announcement. Anthropic CFO Krishna Rao spearheaded outreach to potential backers over the past two weeks, after the company was first approached by investors last month a sign of how fast investor appetite for AI is moving.

What makes the deal particularly striking is that three of the four co-leads Dragoneer, Sequoia, and Altimeter also hold significant stakes in OpenAI. Dragoneer alone pumped nearly $3 billion into OpenAI last year. Leading venture firms are no longer picking sides; they are betting on the entire frontier.

The Anthropic $900 billion valuation nearly triples the company’s previous $350 billion figure from just three months ago. Revenue is fuelling that confidence annualised figures are expected to cross $45 billion imminently, a fivefold jump from $9 billion at the end of 2025. Amazon and Google, prior major backers, are not expected to participate in this round, per reports.

The AI gold rush shows no signs of cooling.
